-------------------------------------------- 1.The LGBT Socialist Party on DeviantART is designed for numerous variants of communistic thought from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community and Allies. Marxists and non-Marxists are welcome. Likewise, other leftists such as anarchists are welcome, and even those who are willing to learn of Communism are welcome. While the LGBT Socialist Party of DeviantART realizes that disagreements in ideological beliefs shall arise among members, we ask that debates be kept respectful and mature. Opposing beliefs (e.g. capitalists) must keep their questions and arguments respectful and mature as well.
2. The LGBT Socialist Party of deviantART has no official line of thought. This means that we are quite simply a party of Communists, whether members are Marxist-Leninist, Trotskyist, Maoist, Stalinist or anything else. Since the LGBT Socialist Party of DeviantART is an Internet based group, it is more important for us to engage in active discussion rather than Internet sectarianism. Of course debates among ideological lines will arise as mentioned, and these are welcome, but once again, please keep these debates with integrity.
3.Submissions to the gallery should contain quality, reflective of the fight for socialism , LGBT equality, and our political messages. And also, don't be shy from posting LGBT pride and related works just because there is a hammer and sickle in our group avatar. After all, this group in about how being Socialist and being Queer are not mutually exclusive to each other and those that are Queer and Socialist should feel free. We understand that not everyone is Van Gogh or Renoir, but if you are planning on submitting art to the Party, please use your best effort and your best judgment. All submissions are currently automatically approved -- this will change as the party gathers a certain threshold of membership numbers and Admins and a Central Committee can be formed - Art that is not specifically communist in nature, but includes subject matter that many communists agree with (e.g. anti-Zionism, anti-imperialism, Environmentalism) it can still be approved potentially as well.
All members are expected to respect and act according to these guidelines. Any disrespectful attitude towards these guidelines or other members, comrades or not, will result in a review by a member of the Central Committee, and possible expulsion.
So I was recently blocked by two people for having this opinion but as a bisexual I just need to make this clear.
Bisexuality is NOT an attraction to men and women; at least it isn't just that. Bisexuality is most often defined as a sexual attraction to two or more genders. This means that a bisexual can be attracted to non-binary people as well; some of those attracted to all genders choose to call themselves pansexuals or omnisexuals and that's fine too. There's nothing wrong with those terms; the thing is that bisexual is a just as acceptable term.
The most common argumentthat people have against this is that because 'bi' means two, it must only include two genders, these being male and female. There are a few issues with this. The first issue I think is fairly obvious: it is incredible insulting to non-binary people as it assumes just because it has to do with two genders, these genders must be male and female. The logic of it being an attraction to two genders could just as easily be an attraction to male people and non-binary people, or female people and non-binary people, and not recognising this is viewing non-binary people as having less valid gender identities.
The second issue is that the term two, which is legitimately the translation of 'bi', can be interpreted in more than one way. Some people see it as an attraction to people of your gender and to people not of your gender. However the most common way to see it within the bisexual community is that it's an attraction to two (being the bi part) or more genders. This means that anyone attracted to two or more genders is a bisexual. A bisexual doesn't even have to be attracted to both males and females; they can legitimately be attracted to just male and non-binary people.
So in conclusion: Bisexuality is an attraction to people of two or more genders. Denying that is transphobic and linguistically simplistic.
