On the Anti-Gay law from a Russian. STOP IT! HELP!

_{This is a bit ranty, I apologize, but I can't take this anymore! I know there are probably thousands of journals on this, but I MUST have my say, for my people, for myself, for love! If you have read/know enough about this, just go vote, if you haven't yet, please spread the word! We need help!}

I am Russian. There has never been a time I have been more sick of this fact. Help us. Help us prove that the LGBT community deserves acknowledgement, deserves the same human rights as the 'moralistic straight people!'

So, as many of you probably heard, Russia is undertaking the anti-LGBT law. I have held back, but I cannot any longer. If we, the citizens of this formerly great nation won't fight against it, why would others? I won't pretend to understand the entire politics of it all, but here's what I do understand.

Russia is my country. I love it, I hate it, I have reasons. But this? This is something I cannot forgive. Russia, unlike many modern civilisations, has been very conservative about LGBT, many, many people, non-religious people, people that it doesn't impact feel offended by it feel that it's wrong, and so forth. I'm not about to persuade you here that my views on LGBT being correct is right, etc. If you're one of the homophobes, fine. But look at it this way. Aren't the LGBT community people too, aren't they worthy of being able to live their lives as humans, have as much right as the gay people? I'm pansexual. I'm androgynous. I'm a furry. I'm proud to admit that is who I am. WHY does government have the right to prevent people from being happy, preventing their pursuit for naturally occurring happiness to THEM even if YOU don't understand it? I blame Putin. No, I blame the heartless people that allowed this to happen. Is love not equal?

So sick and sad I day I never did expect. Instead of moving forward, Russia took a giant leap back. Formerly, the government ALWAYS favored the straight goody goody Christians. Unfortunately, this has barely changed with time. In 2010, a close friend of mine was nearly killed during a LGBT pride parade, nearly beat to death by a protester. WHY do these people have so much hate? What did people like us EVER do to people like them? The protesters are the ones who always seem to want to pick a fight, throwing punches, making innocent people bleed, just take a look at this, for only a few photos from former parades www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/photos… . And yet, the government bats a blind eye at these violent hogs, and always seems to detain and arrest the innocent beat-up party, relying on the words of this 'devout Christian'. Did god not say in the Bible to love thy neighbor? Yes, being gay is a 'sin', but so it having sex, having children! You don't hit your mother for losing her virginity to give birth to you.

Russia even applies this sick law to people outside the country. Gay? No public displays, or you will be arrested(and beat up). Gay couples can no longer adopt Russian children. That abusive straight couple? Suuuure. That perfectly loving and welcoming gay couple? No way! They'll corrupt the poor thing, make it like them! In reality, studies have shown that the sexual orientation of parent does not affect that of children, but that is irrelevant. To make things worse, telling children about LGBT is punishable by law. AS IF the children not knowing about it will make them any less gay, bi, or transsexual! All you will have are many thousands of confused and lost children! I'm telling you, this will go down WAY worse than the prohibition.

Even if you don't agree with all I have to say here, fine, this is my opinion, I'm not saying it to be correct, whatever. But please. Take 5 minutes of your time, and sign this petition, get the government to see they're doing wrong, that gay, trans, bi, lesbian people are as much as valued and important as the straight ones. WHY, WHY do you wish to abuse them? We have done nothing wrong, we have done nothing but love, follow our hearts, be proud of who we are, and show it. Why is a straight couple kissing on the street cute, and a gay one horrendous? It's the very same love. Prevent this, please, stop more innocent people getting hurt!
